We have found that techniques used in one industry have yielded solutions to completely different problems in other industries. For example, a simple computationally-efficient sensor linearization technique inspired a solution that significantly reduced data overheads in a servo seek-time prediction function. Similarly, a successive-approximation technique used in a calibration function for a gas analysis instrument provided a fast search algorithm for memory resource allocation.
